Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) has an exciting opportunity available for a Social Media Strategist to join our team in Maidstone. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £28,239 £32,136 per annum (with additional on-call payment of £3,547.31 per annum).

About the role:

As a Social Media Strategist, you will be setting the social media strategy, running multiple social media channels, generating great content ideas, and bringing them to life independently using an iPhone to film and edit. You ll be proficient using multiple platforms including Instagram and TikTok, and your content will be engaging, brand relevant and trend-led to target different audiences effectively.

As our Social Media Strategist, you will be responsible for:

  • Running KFRS social media channels day-to-day, and during emergency incidents
  • Setting the paid and organic strategy for all KFRS social media channels
  • Producing detailed content plans for all KFRS social media channels
  • Posting/scheduling content and advertising across all platforms
  • Creating engaging and unique brand relevant video content independently using an iPhone, as well as in collaboration with design colleagues
  • Collating insights through social listening and online conversations with members of the public
  • Developing a social media evaluation framework
  • Assisting with the press office function as required during busy periods.
  • Being part of the out of hours press officer on-call rota
  • Spliting your time between office and home working, with three days minimum per week working at KFRS HQ (hybrid working)

What we re looking for in our Social Media Strategist:

  • Degree level or equivalent in communications/PR/marketing, or, at least five years experience in a busy communications team/news room/PR agency
  • Experience in creating social media strategies, running multiple social media channels, and content creation for a variety of social media platforms paid and organic
  • Experience of using a defined brand
  • Experience using effective storytelling to reach people in different ways
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone of voice for different channels and audiences with ease
  • The ability to stay calm and think clearly in a fast moving, high pressured environment
  • The ability to be flexible, and un-phased by rapidly changing situations
  • The ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail
