Job Description

SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Communications, this position will be responsible for helping to develop and implement OV's social media strategy to enhance online presence and brand awareness. Within the Communications Department, the Social Media Specialist is responsible for implementing Opportunity Village's social media strategy and helping to develop brand awareness. The right candidate will effectively manage and grow social media presence across multiple platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter through creativity, planning, development and delivery of social content while building strong community engagement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Create, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, graphics, or video) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action.
  2. Create content calendars in advance that are aligned with strategic direction and organizational goals.
  3. Post live video or other content as necessary.
  4. Work with communications team to utilize all available resources to create the best possible posts, including graphic design.
  5. Coordinate with teams in other departments to create editorial calendars and build campaigns to drive engagement and leads.
  6. Monitor trends in social media, suggest and propose ideas to maintain relevancy and capitalize on trends.
  7. Engage with community comments and questions on social media channels.
  8. Create event pages as needed to help promote attendance via social media.
  9. Keep OV's strategy for social media up-to-date with the latest social media best practices and technologies.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand other's reactions and behaviors.
  • Working knowledge and experience with SEO, social media, and reporting.
  • Ability to clearly write posts and captions.
  • Creative written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving approach and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Must understand and be able to identify target audience for posts and channels.
  • Positive attitude, detail- and customer-oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability.
  • Must be able to travel between locations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Required: 2 years of social media marketing experience, in-house or agency.
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in communications, advertising, marketing or a related field
  • Preferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
