Marketing, PR, and Digital Media Fellowship
Position Overview
MassCEC is looking for a talented student interested in marketing, communications, web design, business, or journalism to help produce and manage MassCEC's content in traditional media, email campaigns, social media, and on our website. The Fellow would be a member of MassCEC's fast-paced Communications team.
The ideal candidate should be organized, have a strong sense of storytelling and be able to work independently with MassCEC staff to identify potential projects that would make visually compelling stories. Team projects include writing for the web, drafting press releases, drafting and posting social media, and event planning encompassing correspondence with partner organizations.
The candidate is encouraged to share a small portfolio or a writing sample. This can include a paper and/or school coursework - you should not create something new, just send us a piece you've already written.
The fellowship program at MassCEC includes various educational and networking opportunities, including:
- Lunch-time Tech Talks and Brown Bag Presentations;
- Guided tour of the Wind Technology Testing Center; and
- Other industry related events.
Job Duties
- The intern will assist the Director of Marketing, Director of Communications, and the Senior Director of Government Relations
- Support supporting communications initiatives such as digital engagement with consumers and businesses, graphic design, web design, and program promotion
- Manage internal content and events calendar
- Publish blog posts and success stories
- Prepare for MassCEC's presence at public events and conferences
- Support strategic communications projects
- Perform other tasks as needed
Position Qualifications
Education:
- Pursuing or have earned a bachelor's degree in marketing, digital arts, communications or related field. Student with previous co-op or corporate office experience preferred.
- Some coursework in Environmental Science a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communications skills,
- Strong project management skills,
- Strong organizational skills,
- Strong attention to detail,
- Experience with communications and marketing through various types of social media, including Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram
- Willingness and ability to work as part of a team,
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Sharepoint, Excel, Power Point and Word,
- Familiarity with MailChimp, Canva, and website content management systems a plus,
- Experience with photography and multimedia or video production a plus,
- Interest in public affairs, public policy, environmental/energy issues and/or politics/government a plus,
- Ability to work on deadline in a fast-paced environment and
- Willingness to travel to events in Massachusetts and write associated social media posts (transportation provided by MassCEC)
Supervision
The fellow will work under the supervision of the Director of Marketing, Director of Communications, and Director of Government Affairs.
Salary
The Fellow will earn $18 per hour and be eligible to work for 35 hours per week.
