Commercial Agency Assistant

Location: Hadleigh, Essex

Salary: Up to £25,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Our client is one of the UK's leading Business Transfer and Commercial Estate Agents, helping hundreds of people to buy and sell businesses every year.

The company have been established for over 60 years, dealing with Business Transfer, Commercial Property, Residential Property and Property Management.

The Role

This is fantastic role for an ambitious candidate who has some experience in the estate agency industry but looking for a more involved, technical role with long term career prospects of becoming a commercial & business valuer.

Directly reporting to the business sales team this is a hybrid role within the Hadleigh based office which incorporates residential sales, lettings, and property management so there will be a requirement to assist in all areas of the business.

Whilst applications from candidates with estate agency industry experience is desirable, the company would equally welcome applications from ambitious desk-based sales candidates with a background in presentation and pitching a sales skill, as full sector and industry related training will be ongoing.

You will be directly responsible for matching buyers with sellers through the full lifecycle of a business sale. Making viewing appointments, following up with feedback as per our internal process and managing the appointments/viewing calendar. This does mean you will have full exposure to clients, their business for sale and applicants looking to buy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implementing a business generation strategy within a given territory to generate new sale enquiries.
  • Liaising with the marketing team to create good quality marketing materials.
  • Initial point of contact for business owners and purchasers.
  • Identifying new business opportunities from competitors to market to, tout and build a relationship, leading to securing an appointment for business valuers.
  • Preparing, sending, and monitoring marketing collateral, mail, and email campaigns.
  • Managing applicant calls and emails requesting information on instructions.
  • Arrange & follow up viewings and qualifying offers including buyer due diligence.
  • Working as part of the motivated team to enhance the company's reputation and profile locally, regionally and UK wide.
  • Being involved in the preparation of agency agreements, Invoices & Account Statements.
  • Supporting the Senior Property Managers, providing general admin assistance whilst learning 'on the job'
  • Attending viewings, valuations, all types of property Inspections, check-outs, organising of quotes/works through contractors.
  • Ensuring all information is placed onto the in-house database and paperwork is filed; some file progression will be required also.
  • Responsible for understanding the full process of the business sales cycle, commercial sale and lettings.
  • Daily, weekly, monthly reporting.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident and professional telephone manner
  • GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above in Maths and English
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office - especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Full UK driving license; Essential


  • Previous experience in sales is beneficial
  • Previous Experience within an Estate Agency or Commercial Agency
  • Social media/content expert
  • Interest in business development
